A child arrangement order determines where a child lives and their contact with each parent. Applications are made through the family court.

Grandparents don’t have automatic rights but can apply to the court for permission to seek contact with their grandchildren.

Adoption involves applying for an Adoption Order, which legally transfers parental responsibility to the adoptive parents.
