Domestic abuse is a horrible, and unfortunately all-too-common occurrence in the UK.

Most people think domestic abuse is largely exhibited through physical violence, and whilst this can be the case, almost all instances of domestic abuse include financial or economic abuse as well; around 95% according to Surviving Economic Abuse. This makes it harder for people to leave abusive relationships, as they may financially depend on their abuser, or not have access to their own assets. Taking expert, professional and legal advice to fully understand the options that are available to you is vitally important. What Qualifies as Domestic Abuse?

Psychological abuse, sexual abuse, harassment, and coercive and controlling behaviour all fall under domestic abuse and should be taken extremely seriously. What Should I Do If I’m Being Abused?

There are various avenues that you can go down if you are experiencing abuse from your partner, your spouse, or your family member. Whatever your personal circumstances are, we will offer advice and help so that you may obtain one or more of the following solutions:

  • Non-Molestation Orders: This is a court order to prevent the abuser from continuing their abusive actions.
  • Divorce Agreements: With a no-fault divorce, you will not need to supply any evidence of abuse to the court in order for your divorce to be actioned.
  • Child Arrangement Orders: This is a court order which states where a child/children will live and how much contact they can have with either parent, including the nature of that contact, i.e. in-person, phone calls, etc.

There are other options available besides the above, and what you need will depend on the severity of your case.
