Who Qualifies for Legal Aid?

Eligibility for legal aid is assessed in two ways: a means test and a merits test.

The Means Test

The means test looks at your income and capital. There are upper limits on both gross income and the value of your savings, investments and property. If you are on certain benefits, such as Universal Credit, you may pass the means test automatically. The criteria set by the Legal Aid Agency are very strict. The Merits Test

How Do I Apply for Legal Aid?
