Dissolution of Civil Partnership

Helping you through civil partnership dissolution

Over many years Higgins Miller has been recognised as one the North West’s specialist divorce solicitors, but over recent years we have seen a marked increase in the number of cases where civil partnerships have broken down.  Just as with a divorce, the dissolution of a civil partnership can be complex and extremely stressful, which is why you most definitely require the professional help and advice of a legally qualified solicitor who specialises in family law and in particular in helping clients overcome the problems of a civil partnership breakdown.

To understand the civil partnership meaning and how this affects matters when a relationship breaks down, here is a very brief outline of the necessary legal proceedings.

If you are the person who starts the dissolution you are referred to as The Petitioner.  Your partner will be referred to as The Respondent and to effect the dissolution of a civil partnership there are a number of legal processes to which you must comply.

The main thing is that as specialists in the dissolution of civil partnership we will guide you through this complicated process and assist you at every step of the way to help you make the correct decisions and to ensure that you receive everything to which you are entitled.

Along with the one-to-one advice we will complete all the necessary paperwork on your behalf and if the case does go to Court (which in our experience is unusual) we will be there to represent you and to help you through this most difficult period.

After considering your case the Judge may or may not raise questions, but you do not need to worry because we take care of all these proceedings on your behalf.  Once the Judge is satisfied with the dissolution papers we have presented he or she will then fix a date for the legal completion of the dissolution of civil partnership.

You’re no doubt thinking that this legal process sounds extremely complex and daunting.  The point to remember though is that as one of the North West’s leading dissolution of civil partnership solicitors and thanks to our friendly, personal approach, you can be confident that we will always be there to guide you and to help you make the right decisions in order to achieve the best results possible.

Of course in any legal process, there are costs and fees to be considered.  Again though we will help you by explaining all about the different funding options.  Whether you qualify for Legal Aid or choose a private funding process, we will always be there to help you make the best decisions according to your circumstances.

If you would like to discuss civil partnership dissolution proceedings with one of our specialist solicitors then we can arrange an initial one hour meeting in our Stockport offices for just £120 + vat @ 20% and we will provide you with a written report of our discussion together with our professional advice.
