It is being reported that Kim Kardashian is desperate for a divorce from her estranged husband Kris Humpries so she can marry Kanye West, who she has been dating since earlier this year.
Kim married Kris in a wedding ceremony that was televised for her reality tv show a year ago but the marriage only lasted 72 days. Kim and Kris signed a pre-nuptial agreement which has resulted in Kris having no claim on Kim’s estimated $38 million fortune.
Under English law parties are required to be married for at least one year before they can petition for divorce. They can then divorce on the grounds of either unreasonable behaviour or adultery. If a “no fault” divorce is sought then the parties must be separated for two years before petitioning.
