Lack of confidence in the courts

The Ministry of Justice has published a report into the public’s confidence in the court system.

The survey showed that less than half of those asked were either very confident of fairly confident that the family courts take into account the views of both parents when deciding what orders to make in respect of children. 54% actually felt that the courts did not make decisions in the best interests of the children involved.

With this in mind we felt it was important to remind you that at Higgins Miller we always do our bets to avoid court. We can offer a number of options to clients to avoid the court process altogether whether their case involves children, finances or any other family law matter.

We have strong links with local mediators and can also offer collaborative legal services where the separating couple makes a commitment to stay out of court and then together with their solicitors holds a series of meetings to come to an agreement that works best for them.

If you are interested in discussing one of the methods of dispute resolution or you just want some general advice about your options on separation then please contact us.
