We are fixed fee divorce solicitors that are here to help you, and to make you aware of the choices that are available to you.

What are the divorce fees?

Knowing the cost of the legal process upfront can help alleviate stress by helping you manage your finances and make informed decisions. Higgins Miller offers a fixed-fee divorce package for agreed, undefended divorces;

  • If you are the applicant: £595 + VAT
  • If you are the respondent: £395 + VAT

For all other divorces, an hourly rate is applied. We have a range of family solicitors who provide their expertise at variable rates depending on experience.

Just to outline the legal process of a divorce; If you are the person who starts the divorce process, you are referred to as The Applicant. Your spouse will be The Respondent. You can initiate a joint divorce. To obtain a divorce you must have been married for at least one year. Divorce is now focused on no fault or blame.

How we can help

We complete and submit all the legal papers to the Court. We will undertake these proceedings on your behalf. Once the divorce is initiated there is a 20-week cooling off period. Only after that time can the divorce be progressed by applying for the conditional order. Once the conditional order has been pronounced, you then need to wait at least 43 days (6 weeks and 1 day) before we can apply to finalise the divorce and end the marriage.
