In the wake if 86 courts in England and Wales closing, we are pleased to report that Stockport Courthouse will remain open.
After hard work and campaigning from MP’s, Solicitors (including our own Mark Higgins) and local residents alike it has been decided that Stockport will continue to run as normal taking on family work with divorces being handled in Liverpool as is currently the case.
However, 13 other courts in the North West including Altrincham and Macclesfield will close as planned with cases being moved to Manchester. The intention is that the closures will save around £15.3 million per year. But we are delighted that Stockport courthouse will continue to provide local justice to our community.
